As the title suggests, the website I have been working on is now up and live! You can check it out by clicking the link below:

Why make a new website you may ask? First and for most, I thought it was about time I made a more professional looking online portfolio. I usually just insert my blog anytime a job asks for a portfolio. But blogs can be cluttered and hard to find something worthwhile. Secondly, blogs are more suited for updates and wips. A website shows only the best of the best and what is needed to be seen by the client.
And yes, I used "wix" to create my site.
"Wix" is actually a great website building tool in my opinion. It offers a ton of options to customize and create with. My only qualm with it is the user interface. It can sometimes be hard to move things around or size things in a manner you want. It really just takes a minute to figure out how to work around it.

More work on my S6 Store and a new website!!!
Hey Ya'll,
Just letting you know that I have added more work to my Soceity6 store!
I've continued adding to my "Misheard Lyrics" collection, with the addition of "Misheard Lyrics - Like a Black Wittle Baby". It's a play on "Black Widow" by Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora. I plan on doing either 2 or 3 more to this collection.
There's also a graphic piece called "#CoolKids". The inspiration comes from Warhol and the ideas of being a hipster cool kid.
Check it all out at society6.com/ronnieboyjr
I'm also working on a new portfolio website to display my work. Stay tuned!!!

T-Swizzle and Watercolors
Well, I'm back with some WIPs for my society6 stuff!
I had spoken in a previous post about designing a Taylor Swift inspired piece based off her "Blank Space" song lyrics. Here's a sneak peek:
I'm going for almost a comic book styling. I've done 2 versions of this piece, a vector version and a painted version. Above is the painted version. It stills needs more added details; like I said, work in progress.
I'm also in the process of designing a Gwen Stefani "Spark the Fire" piece.
Below is another of my many ideas circulating my brain. This piece is inspired by the graphic nature of sin city mixed with the beauty of watercolor swirl effects. I like where it's going, but it's not 100% there yet. It's also not necessarily the picture I will use, I'm more about perfecting the technique and what works better first.
When these are done, you can check them out on my s6 page: society6.com/ronnieboyjr
Til next time!

I'm Now on Society6!
Hey Everyone,
Have you ever thought to yourself, "Damn, I wish I could wear your art!" or "That piece would look so cool on a laptop!"? Well that moment has finally arrived!
I have now opened my own store on society6, a website for artists to sell their work on various products. Not only does it help spread the word about my art, but you promote others as well.
Just go to society6.com/ronnieboyjr , choose what you like and order it! Also check out what else they have to offer from other artists. One of my favs is Tim Shumate!
I will be continuously updating my store with more art. I'm currently working on a T-Swizzle inspired piece as well as a Gwen Stefani one too. You never know what will be there next!

Finally some new WORK..99.9% of the Time
I was really bored one night, and had the urge to draw. I pulled out my sketchbook and started doodling this man's face. After sometime of rendering it out...and tore the piece out of my book and crumpled the paper. It just wasn't what I wanted.
Then I thought of this concept:
I took a snapchat pic of it and titled it "99.9% of the time". Basically it was how I was feeling in that very moment. And people seemed to respond really well to it. So then I began thinking, what if this was on a shirt or a mug or even a pillow? So I started to render it out in Photoshop!
My plan is to upload this to society6 and see if anyone wants to have this. I'll be adding more than just a "?", but the title will still be the same, "99.9% of the Time.
Here a quick look at the WIP:
I seriously can't wait to finish this!!! More to come soon!!!

Celebrity Attempts
Here are two drawings based on pictures of real celebrities. The first is of my favorite Aussie male model, Daniel Garofali. The second is of the beautiful songstress Lana Del Rey.
Here's the DG pic. I usually like to use black and white pics to draw since you can see the values more easily. While studying the reference pic, I start off like most artists do with the basic shapes. Once I have those down, I usually go for the face. I love drawing eyes and I feel like the eyes are what makes the drawing really come alive.
While drawing this piece, I couldn't help but noticed bits of myself were being put into the face. Not intentional, but perhaps unconsciously. Overall, it doesn't look like him really (well the body does), but I still like this piece.
You can see the step by step process on my instagram: @ronnieboyjr
Here's the Lana piece. Now this piece look like her. But while Lana usually looks more stern in her pics, my rendition has more of a pleasant smirk.
I used my same method as the previous (and others like this). The hardest part for me was her nose. She has a high tip, which when turned to an angle and disappear under harsh light.
Overall, it's fun to study b&w photos, since they can help you understand value, and ways to simple create certain parts of the face, body, and more.
Another #MCM
Well, this is basically the last of my #MCM and #WCW pics I've drawn. Like before, I was given a list of around 10 qualities my friend would like to have in her "perfect" man. And the following is it:
Random Doodles
Here are a couple of random doodles I drew throughout the months. Not too many since I was incredibly busy during the summer teaching art camps. But you can definitely tell the difference between when I draw from my mind and from reference.
My natural style is to go for more of a cute aesthetic; simple shading and features.
When I draw from reference, I usually try to get all the highlights and shadows in the image, along with the basic shapes and structures.
And more than likely, I won't finished what I started haha

Too Long, But Not Forgotten
Well, looks like my last post was WAY back in February :\...This is an obvious sign that I'm really bad at uploading things I'm working on/have worked on. But at least it's getting done today! I'll break them up into several posts since there is more of a theme/story to each one.
The first of my posts is a tattoo design I did for my friend. She had requested a "Rosie the Riveter" + "Star Wars" inspired piece. And the following is the result (being the female pin-up jedi in the center).

I started with the reference image I was given from my friend. She liked the style of the piece and the 50's pin-up aspect of the drawing. From there, I re-imaged the picture, having the girl holding a light saber using more of my art style.
I then proceeded to add the tattoo sleeve. The sleeve consists of things my friend likes. She loves "The Little Mermaid", so I drew a "Dia de los Muertos" mermaid. I drew it bigger first to get the details I wanted in it, which I could then place into the arm in Photoshop. I also added Yoda and the Death Star for fun little Easter eggs. There are also basic American traditional designs in the arm too.
Whether she gets it or not is up to her, but I was happy with the results and so was she.

The Latest #MCM
Here's the latest from my series "#mcm and #wcw" lol
My friend asked me for her dream man, and created a list of 11 qualities she wanted in the "perfect man". From that list, I created this guy:
It's fun to make someone's day and envision what I think they would like from just some words written down. Definitely hit me up if you'd like one or two haha

Tattoo Concept
I've only drawn a couple of tattoo designs for people. I'm really proud of this one. It's for my friend who wanted feminine theater masks to portray good and bad luck.
Are you a #MCM or a #WCW?
Are you in need of a man crush monday or woman crush wednesday? Can't find that one person to fit the bill? Well everyone has their dream person in mind, and for some of my friends, I drew them haha
Random Doodles 2013-2014
It's been awhile ( a LONG while...) since I last posted anything related to art. I had been focusing on my fashion blog (duds4dudes.tumblr.com) since I had challenged myself to post everything I wore for the entire year of 2013. Go check it out to see where I find good deals on trendy clothes and how to style them.
ANYWAYS, even though I haven't posted anything, doesn't mean I haven't been drawing... I finally have some time to scan some of my latest drawings in so here are some of the things from my sketchbook from the end of last year and the beginning of this one :)
Random people, random events...
As you can probably tell, I love to draw faces. I don't know why, but I always start drawing an eye or a head, and then I just stop just right after the face/neck is done. But I definitely need to practice more on hands and feet.
I hope you like/enjoy these...check out more random work doodles on my instagram: @ronnieboyjr

These 2 drawings are self portraits of myself. I had hair extensions put in and so before that happened, I drew what I thought I would look like. Then I drew myself in other hairstyles that I would like to try out.
These 2 are some celebrity drawings, with the exception of the topless girl.
This was my attempt to draw some "new school" type chibi people. I used to draw a lot of anime, so I guess this is in a way going back to my roots.
Tis the season, with these seasonal drawings.

My work with the NorCal PCA
This past month, I have worked alongside the Northern California Peace Corps Association (NorCal PCA) on creating promotional media for their upcoming benefit concert titled, "Support Girls, Support the World". Proceeds from this concert with benefit not only the NorCal PCA, but also the Bay Area Girl's Rock Camp. It's all about teaching girls empowerment through music. You can learn more about this event by clicking the link below:

As for my input in this project, I came up with 2 designs. One was just plain text while the other was a 60s rock inspired poster. The team decided the rock poster fit the bill more. In the end, one poster became a poster, a flyer, as well as postcards with 3 color variations. Here's what I came up with:

My First Creative Allies Contest was a SUCCESS!!!
Four months ago, my sister had told me about this website called "Creative Allies", where artists come together to create art for different bands ranging from posters to merch and so on and so forth. As I scrolled through the different contest, my eye was drawn to the artist "Olly Murs". I had heard his music before and decided to see what the contest was all about.
After reading the rules, I set out to make my poster. The contest was to create a mid-20th century movie style poster to promote the US release of Olly's CD, "Right Place, Right Time". We could reference songs, his dapper style, as long as it followed the guidelines. After sometime, I submitted what I thought was a simple yet concise design, hoping for the best.
About a week later, I received an email telling me my work had been selected as one of the Editor's Picks. I was so excited, since this was my first experience ever entering an art contest! It reassured me of my style and my abilities. Unfortunately, I didn't win the contest. But although I didn't win the big prize, I did win a personal goal.
You can check out my poster, along with the winning design at the link below:

Vector Logos
The first design was a cheetah cub. She said she wanted an animal that she liked. But in the end, it just didn't fit what the subject matter. It's still cute though!
The next is a woman. It ended up getting past on too since she didn't like it as much. I on the other hand like it enough to keep working on it. So this is more a WIP than the final product. I want to add more texture to her wrap.

New Drawing!!!
So I finally felt like finishing the drawing I started on Feb 24th. Now the date may say it took me from the 24th til today, but in actuality, I didn't work on it everyday. I believe I drew this piece in about 3 days with a bunch of null time in between.
I honestly powered through the last bit so it's not perfect, but I'm happy with the finished product. I also decided to make a gif to show the progress of the pic. I hope you all like it. Oh, and this is another picture of Marlon Teixeira with another model (I don't know her name). I find it really fun to study black and white pictures like this to help with form and value.

My Very First (and Last) Sculpture
For our final assignment, we were to create an alien, a "MIB" inspired agent, and a weapon. I went for a Mexican theme, and decided my agent was from Guadalajara and was investigating a "chupicabra" case. Here's the 2D turnarounds for what I created:

And now the sculpts:
I'm very proud of the work that went into these pieces. Unfortunately, my sculpts were damaged coming home from college :\ But at least I have pictures

Something Old and Something New
So as I'm starting this new journey of finding a job that combines both what I spent my college years learning and doing something that I'm passionate about, I stumbled upon some of my old college work. I'm making some gifs as we speak to showcase some of that, but for now, here is something from my "Atavii" project.
Our level was inspired by Morocco, so I took it upon myself to create decals that we could use to create unison with all our assets while also referencing the inspiration. All of these decals were handmade by me in Photoshop. There are 40 in total and some were very simple, while others were more extravagant. I played a ton with geometric shapes and floral patterns.
Now as for the new, I recently picked up my "Motivation Sketchbook" again and drew something. I used pics from my "people2draw" folder, mixed two pictures that I liked of Marlon Teixeira, and here is the end result:
